Sweetwater Chaos Leads To Victories

BCH Sports

The Sweetwater Mustangs are in the Class 4A Division II semifinals for the first time since 2005.

If you’ve ever seen a Sweetwater game, you noticed one thing.

They seem to be a little chaotic. Crazy things happen in their games.

The defense is forcing turnovers. The offense is scoring quickly with big plays in the running game and the passing game.

It’s a blast to watch. Is there a method to the madness?

Shane Mobley said, “*laughs* To have a method, I guess you could say that. It’s all the stuff we can do as individuals. We do a lot of individual practice and learn certain techniques and then we’ll tie it all in together in team.”

Luke James said, “We love to play football, we go hard every play, it’s backyard football. It’s amazing, we just work together and it’s basically controlled chaos, that’s what Coach Mob preaches.”

Hunter Mobley said, “We just go out there and take care of our stuff, so when you’re actually playing it, it just comes natural to us.”

The Mustangs have their hands full with the Gilmer Buckeyes on Friday night in Waco.

Gilmer is 131-15 in the last even seasons.

They play at Baylor’s McLane Stadium in Waco at 7 p.m.
