Rookie James Washington is getting people’s attention in Pittsburgh Steeler’s camp, and he’s moving up the depth chart.
This week, future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger said he’s intrigued by the former Stamford Bulldog’s potential.
For some that would be a sign to work harder on the field, but that’s not how Washington works.
He said, “Not at all. It shouldn’t. Each day I come out here I should have the same mind set as I’ve had since college and high school. That’s just get better and improve. You know at the moment, I don’t know what my role is, but when I’m on the field, and I’m in I’m going to make the plays that come my way, and do what I can do to help this team win.”
He also talked about the quality the Steelers have at the receiver position.
Washington said, “We have a lot of talent across the board. We have guys that are good at different things. We’ve got tons of talent, like you said, at the position. I’m looking forward to what the season holds for us.”
Washington caught two passes for 44 yards in the Steelers first preseason game.
