The ACU Wildcats are getting ready to play their first game on Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday night.
The game will mark the end of a long three-year process of planning, fund-raising, and building.
It also marks the first time ACU’s played a game on campus in decades.
It’s great to have a new stadium, but it goes much deeper than that for the Wildcats.
“It’s exciting to me, I try not to get too caught up in that because I get, I kind of get emotional, I get goosebumps,” Adam Dorrel said. “I think the thing for me is that I’m trying to really represent a positive way,”
“It’s surreal to be honest with you. I have to pinch myself to say gosh this is really happening,” Lee De Leon said.
“It’s been 59 years since we’ve played a football game on this campus so it’s taken a long time to get to where we are today, but man I’m so proud of us and all the work that’s gone into it. We have an unbelievable staff that’s spent countless hours getting ready for this time and this moment.”
ACU takes on Houston Baptist in their Southland Conference opener on Saturday at 6 PM. It appears ACU games are going to be an event from this point forward.
