Wylie Baseball adjusting to Class 5A

Sports

The Wylie Bulldogs are off to a pretty good start in their first year Class 5A baseball.

Head Coach Clay Martin’s team is 2-2 after the first 1/3 of play in District 4-5A.

The move up was a challenge for all of the programs at Wylie, and the baseball team is facing the same challenges that the rest of the teams faced.

Head Coach Clay Martin, I think we’ve always had good competition regardless of what clasification we are but all the teams are good teams this year. The district is strong throughout and it just puts an emphasis on each and every game that you’ve got to show up, perform, and execute and that’s the key right now.

Caleb Munton said, We try to play our game no matter who we are playing, even when we were in 4A teams get better as you go through the playoffs but you still have got to play your game. The teams have been better, we’ve seen better pitching this year.

The Bulldogs are open this week, and they start the second 1/3 of the 2019 season next Tuesday in the Metroplex against Aledo.  Aledo comes to Abilene next Friday.
