Wylie continues work toward start of 2018 season

The Wylie Bulldogs are halfway through their second week of practice for the 2018 season.

Head coach Hugh Sandifer and his Bulldogs are entering unchartered territory for the school with their move up to Class 5A.

That move makes their time on the field before the season even more important, and Sandifer says his team is getting in come good work heading into their scrimmage on Friday.

Sandifer said, “As practices are going, they’re going good it’s just now a situation where, this Friday we get to scrimmage someone different than ourselves and so I think we can evaluate talent better. We have competition going on among each other but we need to see we are against other people. The A’s don’t matter, our first scrimmage is against a 6A and then we play a tough 5A opponent first game so the A’s don’t matter, it’s just trying to get your team ready and that’s the biggest thing we’ll have to do. Our schedule is very competitve, it’s just going to be a tough challenge for us and we know that.”

The scrimmage with Odessa is Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The season opens next week at Georgetown.
