The "Fallen Hero Memorial Plaza" was approved by Abilene City Council at their Thursday meeting. The memorial to be constructed outside the Abilene Convention Center facing North 7th. Along with 6 historical "billboards" and two shade structures the monument will bear the names an faces of the 15 city employees who have given their lives in the line of duty. Among them are eight from the police department, five from the fire department, one from solid waste, and one from the Parks and Recreation department.
