Today will be a cold and rainy day. The receord low high temperature for Abilene, which is 66° set in 1994, will be broken as high temperatures look to only reach the middle to upper 50’s this afternoon. There will be periods of rain and a few isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and through the night. Main hazards with this look to be localized flooding and lightning. Wind will come from the north northeast at 10-15 MPH. Overnight temperatures will stay relatively steady as they fall down to the lower 50’s.
Saturday looks to see more chances for rain and thunderstorms as we remain in a upper level southwest flow. Mothers Day will see periods of sun as we get into a little more stable air. This will be short lived however, as the possibility of rain showers and storms returns during the Sunday evening hours. Temperatures will continue to be below average through Wednesday of next week.
Thursday will see a return to seasonable temperatures under mostly sunny skies as a more stable airmass works in from the west.
