This Morning: Another warm start to the last day of the work week. Temperatures are in the 70s and lower 80s across the Big Country under mostly clear skies. Winds are out of the south around 5 to 15 mph. Dew points are still in the mid and upper 60s to get you out the door, meaning it is another humid start to the day as well. Winds will briefly pick up again this morning, becoming southwesterly around 10 to 15 mph, before becoming lighter again by lunchtime.
This Afternoon: Summer-like weather continues today as highs climb into the upper 90s across the region! 98° for a high in Abilene, but the heat index will feel more like 100° and a few degrees warmer so be sure to stay cool this afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny, with a 10% chance for an isolated shower along and north of IH-20 this afternoon into the late evening. Winds will be southerly around 5 to 15 mph.
Tonight: Skies will remain mostly clear tonight with light southerly winds as temperatures cool down only into the mid and upper 70s by Saturday morning.
Looking Ahead: Summer-like temperatures remain around through Sunday as highs stay in the mid and upper 90s with heat indices staying around 100°. There is still a 10% chance for an isolated shower on Saturday. Rain chances increase on Sunday with breezy conditions ahead of our next cold front that will move in Monday morning. The best chance for the region will come Sunday night into Monday morning. A few tenths of an inch of rain possible in thunderstorms. Rain chances will taper off by Monday evening as the front leaves us in the lower 90s through the middle of next week.
