KRBC AM Forecast: Record cold end to the week with more rain chances

Weather Forecasts

Be sure to bring back the jacket and umbrella today! After starting out near record cold temperatures this morning, falling into the mid 40s with wind chills in the upper 30s and lower 40s, highs this afternoon will only warm into the mid 50s. We will break a record low maximum temperature today in Abilene. The old record is 66° set in 1994.

Scattered rain chances develop around noon in the western Big Country today and move east into the afternoon. Rain chances will increase for Abilene after the lunch hour. A few thunderstorms may be possible, but no severe weather is expected. Lightning will be the biggest hazard. Rain chances continue overnight and into Saturday morning before tapering off before noon. A tenth to half an inch of rain will be possible with isolated heavier amounts. The ground is already very saturated so any rainfall could lead to areas of localized flooding.
