This Morning: Yet another warm morning across the Big Country with temperatures in the 70s for most of us and few lower 80s north of I-20. There is a small band of clouds moving east across the region, so expect mostly clear and mostly sunny skies this morning, but we’ll eventually become sunny by late morning. Winds will be out of the south-southwest around 5 to 15 mph.
This Afternoon: Continuing to feel like summer as highs return to the upper 90s once again this afternoon. 97° for a high in Abilene. We will see clouds build in by late afternoon into the evening, but we will still hang onto mostly sunny skies. Winds will become south-southeasterly through the day around 5 to 15 mph.
Tonight: Becoming clear overnight tonight as temperatures fall back into the mid 70s again by tomorrow morning with southerly winds around 5 to 15 mph.
Looking Ahead: Summer continues to stick around through the beginning of Labor Day weekend as highs stay in the upper 90s. However, a pattern change will start effecting on weather on Sunday as more clouds move into the area as an upper level trough swings into West Texas. This will drop highs into the mid 90s starting Sunday, even bring a chance for rain as early as late Sunday night. Rain and thunderstorm chances look better starting Labor Day though and through most of next week as highs fall to around 90°, closer to normal for this time of year.
