Winds continue all week with a chance for severe weather mainly east Wednesday…

Cloud cover is starting to build into the Big Country this morning and will give way to partly sunny and mostly cloudy skies through the day. That will keep temperatures slightly cooler than yesterday, in the mid and upper 70s and low 80s. Temperatures this morning are in the 50s ands 60s. Winds are going to stay strong at times through the day.

We continue to track the potential for severe weather across the eastern Big Country Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Parts of the eastern Big Country are under a Marginal to Slight Risk for severe weather, while portions of Comanche and Mills County are now under an Enhanced Risk for severe weather. A dry line will push east across the Big Country through the day Wednesday eventually making it to the central Big Country by the mid afternoon. The timing and location of this dry line will determine where storms initiate as we reach the peak heating time late in the afternoon. As of right now, storms are expected to initiate over the eastern third of our region and some could quickly go severe. The main hazard with severe weather tomorrow will be large hail greater than 1″. Damaging winds will also be possible. A better chance for severe weather moves into central and north Texas overnight Wednesday with the potential for very large, 2″+ size hail and even an isolated tornado. Overall, most of the severe weather will stay out of the Big Country tomorrow with very low chances for rain west of the Highway 283 corridor.
