A perfect spring day is in store this afternoon, so be sure to get outside and enjoy it, before we enter a very active weather pattern! Temperatures are in the 50s for most this morning under clear skies and light to calm northeasterly winds. Highs will stay below average this afternoon, in the mid to upper 70s.

A chance for an isolated thunderstorm develops late Saturday afternoon into the overnight. There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather from Abilene and northeastward, which means we could see an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm. Hail, high winds and localized flooding will be the main concerns. Another chance for an isolated storm returns Sunday afternoon, mainly for the far northern Big Country. A Marginal Risk for severe weather is out for areas north of Stamford on Sunday.

Next week will have a chance for thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe, every single afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has already highlighted all of the central and northern Big Country for a risk of severe storms Monday night into Tuesday morning. However, there will be a chance for severe storms from Monday afternoon all the way through the end of next week. Hail and high winds will continue to be the main threat, and heavy rainfall very likely with thunderstorms.

Stay tuned to the latest forecasts as we get a better idea of the timing and area for severe weather next week as we are entering the start to the peak severe weather season across the Big Country…
