Warm, windy and muggy weather continues today. Skies will remain partly to mostly sunny into the afternoon with occasional wind gusts up to 40 mph. Temperatures will warm to around 90° again today, but with the humidity, the heat index will feel more like the mid 90s. If you notice the haze in the sky today, it is smoke from wildfires burning across Mexico.

There is a Slight Risk for severe weather across the western Big Country late tonight into early Friday morning. Isolated storms are expected to develop along the dry line in the Texas panhandle and make it into the western Big Country by early Thursday morning. No widespread severe weather is expected, but a strong to severe storm may be possible with large hail and strong winds the main hazards. If storms are able to survive, a shower or thunderstorm may make it as far east as Abilene, but our chance for rain is very low.

Another chance for rain and thunderstorms will be possible across the western Big Country Friday evening as another round of storms develop along the dry line Friday afternoon. Once again, there is a Slight Risk for severe weather across the same region. Large hail and strong winds will be the main hazards if there are any severe storms. These storms once again may also make it as far east as Abilene by early Saturday morning, but with a low risk for severe weather.
